How big is Palm Bay?
The city of Palm Bay is over 100 square miles in size, and the population is over 117,000 people. That makes it the second largest city in central Florida, right after Orlando.
Where is Palm Bay located?
Palm Bay is centrally located about two and a half hours away from Tampa, about two and a half hours away from Miami, and about two and a half hours away from Jacksonville.
Interstate 95 runs right through the middle of Palm Bay. You can get to it with exits number 166, 173, or 176.
Palm Bay is close to Orlando Melbourne International Airport, and it's about an hour away from Orlando International Airport, which is a major hub.
And if you like cruise ships Port Canaveral is nearby.
What type of housing can I buy?
Housing styles range from single family (homes), apartments, townhouses, some of the townhouses represent nice little villas, condos, manufacturer homes. You can even get some in gated communities here.
You can even buy a condo on the Intracoastal Waterway, which in this area is the Indian River. Or if you prefer you can get a house or a townhome on the Majors Golf Course which was designed by Arnold Palmer.
Can I find a job in Palm Bay?
There are many opportunities for employment here. You can get a job with a small family-owned business, or through some major chain stores like Lowe's, Home Depot, Walmart, Publix, Kohls. They're all in the neighborhood. Palm Bay has and is near mid-size and large manufacturing and technology companies such as L3-Harris, Grumman, Rockwell Collins, and more.
What are the schools like in Palm Bay?
If you're looking for schools, there are 18 public and private schools, ranging from through Grade 12. In fact Eastern Florida State College has one of its four campuses located right here in Palm Bay.
Are there things to do in Palm Bay Florida?
For your recreation needs the City of Palm Bay has 29 city parks, ranging from paintball parks, skateboard parks, an aquatic center, the Turkey Creek Sanctuary, and the beaches are nearby.
You can also enjoy family activities like biking, hiking, boating, kayaking,and paddle boarding. Palm Bay hosts a 200 acre regional park. It includes fields that are lit at night for soccer or baseball. It also has a few multi-use activity fields, like for cricket.
There's volleyball courts. There's basketball courts. There's hiking trails and biking trails. There's even a dog park that's divided for large dogs and small dogs. Also located in this 200 acre park is the Ted Whitlock Community Center. It offers a gymnasium, an industrial sized kitchen, a large banquet hall which can be divided into two. There's also a billiards room, some meeting rooms, and of
course bathrooms.
Are there things for nature lovers in Palm Bay?
There's diverse types of animals and plants here. Many of these things are common to most of North America, while yet there are many things that are just common to the south.
There's lots of colorful flowering plants here, some I've never seen before until i moved here.
And there's like a diverse number of animals also. Most of North America is familiar with deer, and raccoons, and opossums. But we also have some of the things that are natural to the south. You'll find Sand Hill Cranes, crayfish, and even alligators!
